How it works:

Step 1: Scan or Upload Your Document

To upload your documents just place them in the upload or consume folder. From there DocuCat will handle everything else! This works on text files or images

Step 2: DocuCat imports your document

DocuCat will periodically check for new documents when it does it removes them from the upload folder.

Step 3: DocuCat reads your document

Once our version of Paperless-ngx recieves your document it performs something called OCR which converts text in images or scanned documents into text you can search.

Step 4: DocuCat assigns categories

Based on previous text and categories from other documents the software learns how you want your documents sorted into categories and begins to assign these labels automatically.

Step 5: You can update categories

For the first few documents DocuCat needs examples on how to properly sort your documents. After that you can either let DocuCat do its thing or check the documents to make sure everything is correct.

Step 6: DocuCat learns from your document

As more documents get inputted DocuCat becomes better at labeling your documents. After you assign or correct categories it will learn to adapt to your labeling system.

Our platform is built on Paperless-Ngx an open-source document management system. We made minor modifications to their software to help anyone use such and handy tool

What categories do you mean when you sort documents into categories?

There are built in categories such as correspondents, tags, and document type. You can also create your own and have an algorithm learn to use your category too. Think about it like how you have different folders in a filing cabinet except you can put the document in as many folders as you want.

Does this work on scanned documents?

Absolutely! You can upload scans or images of your documents in addition to any virtual documents you have.

Are my files secure?

Yes, security of your documents is of the upmost priority. Our virtual filing cabinets do not connect to the internet and are not accessible from outside your home or business. Even with access to the virtual filing cabinet your documents.

Can I access my documents from my phone/laptop/computer?

As long as you are connected to the same Wifi or network as the filing cabinet yes! Currently, for security, we do not allow access to DocuCat from outside of your home or business.

Who has access to my data?

Only you or anyone who has an account on your filing cabinet. Each account can also have limits on which documents or features it can access. DocuCat does not collect any data on its customers.
